Lavinia replied, “Selene killed Clarence. I brought him back.”

“Did she do it on purpose?”

“How do want handle this?”

Come to my office after breakfast and we’ll discuss this then.” She turned to Black Sally, “Take him to your quarters and deal with those burns. He’s been under a lot of stress. I followed Sally up the stairs, to the trap door in the pantry and up the dark stairway that led to her quarters. When we got inside, I saw the businesswoman. She was at the table, bound to a chair. Sally went to the fridge and pulled out two bottled waters. She motioned for me to come to her, “There are shorts in the third dresser drawer and there are pain pills on the nightstand.” She handed me a bottled water. I thanked her, grabbed the water and rushed for the pills.

After getting some pain relief and clothing; I sat on her bed and stared at the floor. Things were happening too fast for me. I couldn’t keep my bearings straight. Something kept bothering me. Did I imagine Selene wearing war paint? She wasn’t wearing it when she was shackled on the floor. I couldn’t be sure if it was a hallucination. I looked down at the burns on my chest and stomach. I was sure of those. Since I knew that I really was burnt with an iron and suffocated with a plastic bag, could I safely assume that Selene really was wearing war-paint when she inflicted those injuries? I couldn’t be sure. I worried that my mind was playing tricks on me. If she was wearing the war-paint, when did she wash it off? I thought about Lavinia’s wet hair. Then I knew. The only thing Selene did was knock me out. Lavinia was the one behind the war-paint. She had just gotten one step closer to taking over the table.

Black Sally said, “Just lay down Clarence. I’ll deal with your burns shortly.”

I asked, “What are you gonna do with her?” The businesswoman shot me glance. I got up, went to the table and stared the woman in the eyes. She quickly looked down at the table. I asked, “Why did you refer that couple to the Gothic Girl?” She didn’t say anything, she kept looking down at the table.”

Black Sally said, “You may speak.”

The businesswoman began, “The husband was one of my clients. He was my first regular client. I had never met the wife. One day he came to me and said that he had talked is wife into helping him fulfill one of his fantasies. I didn’t accept her explanation, but I no longer blamed her. Black Sally told me to go lay down so she could bandage my wounds. I went back to bed and laid down.
